Attached is a Chirp ".img" file (HVARC_BF-F8HP_20250707 base image.img) that contains 40+ frequencies from central Virginia. Since this is for the Baofeng that has such a wide open receiver without good selectivity, I only included repeaters that transmitted a tone (with a handful of exceptions), so that the user wouldn't be frustrated if the system transmitted a "data stream" or picked up other spurious noise. In almost all cases, I set the receiver to "Tone Squelch - TSQL" in the Baofeng. The filename says BF-F8HP, but it will work with any radio and Chirp when imported as the instructions below state.
The repeaters in this image file are included in the attached 'pdf' file "BAOFENG Base Image Channel List - 1 JUL 2025.pdf". This is a good base image to start from or to add to repeaters that you may have already entered manually. This is not a tutorial on how to use Chirp, so please familiarize yourself with that process before trying to use this file.
To use this image:
1 - Start Chirp as you normally would
2 - Read the data from the radio ("download from radio" into Chirp)
3 - Save this data to a file to safeguard the current radio configuration in the event that things do not go as planned
3 - Open the HVARC_BF-F8HP_20250707 base image.img file
4 - There will now be two tabs at the top of the Chirp window, and you can go back and forth between these two tabs to copy the data from the HVARC_BF-F8HP_20250707 base image.img file to your radio file.
5 - When the channels are configured as you want them, upload the updated image ("upload to Radio").
6 - You should also save this updated file with a name that you will recognize for future use.
Enjoy!
