Baofeng DM32 CPS v.1.60 is out: Chinese fix instructions

Baofeng just released v.1.60 CPS DMR programming software for the DM32 (6-8-2026). No changelog was included, so it's not apparent what bugs are fixed (or not) vs. CPS v.1.45 (the prior released version). The first time CPS v.1.60 is launched, the default language is CHINESE. A quick edit to the CPS.INI is needed to set the default language to ENGLISH. Here's the quick fix:

Navigate to the installation directory. On my Windows 11 PC, the default location is C:\DMR CPS\CPS DMR Radio V1.60. Locate the CPS.INI file, right-click on it and select OPEN with NOTEPAD.

Near the [function] section at the beginning of the file is an entry that says "lang=cn". That is for CHINESE. Change the "cn" to "en"

so the line reads lang=en. Save the file back, exit NOTEPAD and relaunch CPS v.1.60. Eveything should now display in English!

Thanks to KK4SHO (Andrew) who shared this tip yesterday…

Baofeng DM32 Mid-Atlantic CSV contacts file

CSV contacts file for all DMR ID's in VA, WV, MD, DC, NC and SC plus K2MTB (who is KC4VDZ's brother). 12,902 contacts ready to import and WRITE back to your DM32. Make sure you have the latest DM32 CPS software (v.1.45 Windows only) and that the DM32 is running the latest firmware (v.1.4.7). Import this under Digital -> CSV Contacts. Make sure the "Digital Contacts" tickbox is selected in the WRITE to radio dialog box. Data pulled from RadioID.net on 20 May 2026. I am happy to setup a ZOOM to help you go through the process. 73 Mike

Here's that dialog box I mentioned in my post above. Be sure to check the DIGITAL CONTACTS tickbox if you want to update the contacts on the DM32.

Baofeng DM32UV VA Statewide Codeplug [N4JRI]

See the attached files from Allen, N4JRI

The main idea is to have as much DMRVA & NCPRN as possible already on hand. Should be pretty easy to re-order Zones and build Scanlists according to travel plans.

One thing I'd love to see test driven are the scanlists RIC Mixed - which includes the Midlothian DMR repeater, plus a number of local analog machines. RIC Multi, which includes DMR repeaters for Midlo, Petersburg, Powhatan, Goochland, New Kent, & Beaverdam. Am hoping that this will be almost as good as having an entire scanllist dedicated to just one DMR repeater.

Feel free to email me at drfligo@yahoo.com, as I'd appreciate any feedback on problems encountered and/or solved.

Not exactly statewide at this point, but I hope to expand it more soon. Am anxious to clear up any issues--or just plain--confusing or unnecessary stuff in all those fields that go with the channel list. Any feedback that would help in this effort is appreciated.

Baofeng DM32UV Virginia Radio Contact List Import (KC4VDZ)

From Paul Benenati, KC4VDZ. Contact him with questions!

---

Gentlemen,

Attached is the Comma Separated Values (CSV) file that contains all of the Virginia-based (+ my brother's NY call sign) digital registered users in the RadioID.net database as of 19 JAN 2026.  The file that comes down directly from RadioID.net is not in the proper order to be automatically imported into the Baofeng DM-32UV.  I have reformatted the attached file so that it can be directly imported in the DM-32UV.  I have the entire database and can make that available to you if you are interested, but I was not sure how much memory was available in the DM-32UV.  There are 67,000 users worldwide in the database and approximately 3,725 in the Virginia list.

Attached is a Chirp ".img" file (HVARC_BF-F8HP_20250707 base image.img) that contains 40+ frequencies from central Virginia.  Since this is for the Baofeng that has such a wide open receiver without good selectivity, I only included repeaters that transmitted a tone (with a handful of exceptions), so that the user wouldn't be frustrated if the system transmitted a "data stream" or picked up other spurious noise.  In almost all cases, I set the receiver to "Tone Squelch - TSQL" in the Baofeng.  The filename says BF-F8HP, but it will work with any radio and Chirp when imported as the instructions below state.
